Tuesday 3rd May 2005

Last night was the best nights sleep I had had all holiday, as the bed was very comfortable, the air conditioning quiet and temperature perfect.
Nothing at all could be heard from the resort, as it was very peaceful.

We ate in the Trattoria restaurant in the Portofino Bay Resort; this has an internal and external dining area.

Our server was called Anna Marie, and she was very good and attentive.
We both had coffee and orange juice, but Dawn had the Pack and Stack

I had the Trattoria wrap, which is scrambled eggs, bacon, sauce and mushrooms in a tortilla wrap with a side of sour cream and salsa.

The bill came to a total of $31.42+ tip and was well worth it, as it was well received by the both of us.

We headed over to IOA where we met up with Bill and Jools for our jaunt around the park.
As always we started with Spiderman, which we all did twice, before moving on to the rest of the park.
Bill and I went on the Jurassic River rides, which is our favourite in this park.
We all continued around the rest of the park and went on several other rides before Bill and Jools headed off to do some shopping.
Dawn and I continued on to Universal Studios where we rode The Mummy and other attractions before leaving around 2pm.

By 5pm we were feeling quite hungry so we headed over to the Kitchen at the Hard Rock Resort.
The place was empty and we were the first diners in there

Music is played throughout the restaurant, which I don’t usually like but it was quite light with lots of Phil Collins albums being piped through.
The tables are quite novel and are covered with stainless steel, which is in keeping with the rock music theme.

Our server for the evening was Melinda, who was a very lively character and seemed to be thoroughly enjoying her job.
Dawn ordered a coke and I ordered a glass of Solaris Reserve wine; Dawns wine came in a novel shaped glass.

For a starter Dawn ordered a Shroom Pizza with wild mushrooms, wild garlic mozzarella and thyme along with pepperoni.

I ordered Thai Chicken Lettuce Wrap with poached chicken, red onion, crushed peanuts and cilantro peanut sauce.

Both of these dishes were very nice although large for starters.

For a main course Dawn ordered the New York Strip with green beans, pearl onions and scalloped potatoes.
The steak was cooked to her liking although the applied sauce was quite rich.

I choose the 20 Oz T-bone steak with broccoli, lyonnalise potatoes and horseradish.
I had never had this cut of meat before so decided to try it, unfortunately I was a bit disappointed and will not have this cut again.

Melinda brought the dessert guitar to our table for us to choose one

You may be pleased to know that I ate all of mine but you will be amazed to know Dawn could not manage all of hers…

The bill came to a total of $120.82+ tip

After the meal we continued with a bit of shopping then headed back to our room.
