I was very nervous about going to this hotel as i had read so many bad reviews on tripadvisor. But as usual most of the bad reviews turned out to be nonsense. Most people would say it need updating and yes if you want to stay somewhere were they change the decor every few years to suit the current style then this hotel isnt for you. It did remind me of a building straight out of Dallas in the 80's and you could imagine JR sitting at the bar, but lets face it, its not really going to have a big impact on your holiday if the wallpaper is a few years out of date. I also read that it was starting to look rundown and that it smelt??? I can honestly say it looked great and did not smell one bit. The staff were extremly helpfull with any problems that we had and the customer service desk always had someone on it ready to help in anyway they could. The room service was also spot on. my only gripe about room service and the hotel in general was that in the morning they used an access door to the stairwell just down from our room and it made a terrible noise when it slammed shut, fortunatly this didnt happen that often but it was kinda annoying. When we arrived we had 2 seperate rooms on totally different floors, but i asked the girl at the desk was it possible to get rooms next to each other and they had us changed within minutes. This made it so much easier on the wedding day for the girls to get ready.
The food at the hotel was outstanding. The Outback resaurant is worth a visit if you are staying anywhere near downtown Disney. Not exactly a cheap night out but the service along with 5 star cuisine is worth every penny. Although we did not use many any of the Spa services, there did seem to be loads of option that you could take part in. The outside pool area was also great although it did seem a bit far away from the main tower block of the hotel which did kinda put me off using it as much, but it was never full and the outdoor hot tub was so relaxing. They also had tennis courts and the usual poolside snack bar serving beer and chips. The hotels gazebo where we got married was immaculate and the scenery provided some excellent photos. The rooms themselves are pretty standard florida type rooms except the TV was the biggest ive ever seen in a hotel, and the views from the balcony over looking downtown disney towards the rainforest cafe and fultons crab house were amazing and the thunder storms rolling where amazing. The balcony was also extremley private for a hotel of that size. The bus service provided by Disney was a bit erratic at times but i put this down to Disney rather than the hotel. Sometimes you could wait for ages on a bus then three or four turn up for all the different parks. The hotel is in a great spot if you like eating out and shopping at downtown disney. As you walk out the hotels entrance its is a 2 minute walk across a kinda busy road and you arrive at the bus terminal. This was great at night because we knew we would have no problems getting food or just going for a dander somewhere if we wanted. Even at 12am in the morning you still felt very safe walking back to the hotel. All in all i really liked this hotel and i would diffinetly stay here again although if i go back to Disney i will probably stay on-site. Im not saying the hotel is perfect and if you go looking to pick fault with it you probably could, but it is still a great hotel to stay at both for the location and service it provides. If anyone has any specific questions regarding the hotel please pm me.
